SEO Websites With Google Webmaster Tools

Posted by  Str82u
Today we want to SEO for "Find People Free" using Google webmaster tools. Our site has a domain name containing the key words and has been tweaked more than a little, but mostly for marketing, now we are going for the top spot over at Google, or at least a better position on page one.

To start, the SEO feature that reports information for key words and key phrases is "What Googlebot Sees". The actual lists are much longer, the top ten results are:
In your site's content
1. court
2. county
3. records
4. search
5. new
6. people
7. district
8. public
9. south
10. north
In external links to your site
1. people
2. free
3. find
4. finder
5. searches
6. public
7. search
8. more
9. records
10. county
In external links to your site
1. find people free
2. find people free free people searches people finder
3. more
4. find people free people searches people finder public
5. free people search
6. http findpeoplefree net
7. view site
8. find people free using michigan people finder
9. new york people search find people free
10. find people free free people search

These first two are simple enough, the third has the most common links from other sites, some of which you can see aren't the best SEO references. That will wait for later. For now, in the "Content" list, it looks as though each page of the site needs to have the words "Find" and "People" a bit more, at least once per page. Note that the word "Free" isn't in this list, Google doesn't give it much weight or regard it for this niche even if it occurs more than any other words. This is also common with "the", "and", "or", etc...

The first thing to do? Create a backup of the site!
Also, this "throwback" is using "Shared Borders" thanks to Microsoft's FrontPage and it works for multiple page changes. Since the site is nearly all HTML, so another good editor for adding larger changes across multiple pages is Globalscape's CuteHTML, which is no longer being updated. This site update is also going to include additions to the stylesheet, meaning lighter code than before. For that, the html validator at w3.org will do the job. Starting out, the index page is 19316 bytes, 26 errors and 4 warnings, the first error is "No Doctype Found", OUCH! So we'll be shopping for a declaration. Now that it's done, we went with Doctype HTML 4.01 Transitional (loose), the final page size is 18588 bytes and no errors from the code validator. Additionally, the shared border feature of the index page was removed and replaced by one unique page.

Next, we need to get to adding the keywords through the site, starting with the shared borders. It doesn't appear to be a link problem, but content, so it will be a matter of adding a keyphrase or two to each page without changing the amount of words or taking away certain others, rearranging is a better description. A couple ways to get an extra phrase in without looking too obvious about it is to use the phrase in the copyright line or as a link in the footer, "More sites that can find people free..." or "this mortgage rate site is copyright...".
