Differences Between Google's Panda And Penguin

Posted by  Str82u
After nearly a month after the introduction of Google updates named Panda and Penguin, trying to make a comparison of the two is tough because they were introduced almost simultaneously. When a site gets hit hard by algorithm changes what one sees and what one understands can be different. Algorithms can be constructed out of different conditions with rules, rules about rules, and rules to trigger those conditions which, depending on the complexity, might need to be governed by other sets of rules to prevent conflicts with the entire structure that determines the desired search results. Some of the recent changes that were glaring and humorous are "tells" to other conditions in the updates and even separates them visually because they are always related. Read the rest...

Page Title Structure

Posted by  Str82u
There are several ways to look at it but the title of your page should be easy to read and plain about it's contents. In the same way marketers attract people's attention, a good title can stand out in search results and benefit the user by finding your content. A question answered in a Matt Cutts video short at Google Webmaster Help asked about the difference, if any, between pipes and dashes. Read the rest...

URL Structure

Although there are recommendations from Matt Cutts on the use of dashes or underscores in urls, there is a difference and it applies to specific types of information due to an original language design. At the moment it appears that hyphens dominate the addresses for pages but with the use of underscores it would seem that users would react positively to the visibility. With "Ads Choices", Google provides several tools for web users to opt out of interest and demographic advertising, view/add/remove the categories currently focused on them and even see details in the cookie used for tracking. New Value Of Facebook After IPO

Posted by  Str82u
Facebook is now worth about $112 Billion making it more valuable than many large brick and mortar companies in America. When asked about the found fortune and the effects of becoming a publicly traded company, the head of the billion dollar giant had this to say to the world “Right now this all seems like a big deal. Going public is an important milestone in our history. But here’s the thing, our mission isn’t to be a public company. Our mission is to make the world more open and connected,” Zuckerberg said. “In the past eight years, all of you out there have built the largest community in the history of the world. You done amazing things that we never would have dreamed of and I can’t wait to see what you guys all do going forward.”

User's can take comfort in the fact that the buzz this week at Facebook's headquarters was to "Keep Hacking" with posters to that effect found around their campus and an all night "Hack-a-thon" to create new functions and features for the public website. This could also be due in part to the fact that about 1000 employees with stock options will have become instant millionaires and Mark Zuckerberg merely wanted to get the last bit of creative work out of them that he could before they cashed in and hit the road.
